I caught a 26.6 lb Blue Catfish using Secret 7 yesterday. It was 40 inches
long and 20.5 inches around the noggin.

Funny thing was I had a rod in the
water with a 5 inch Perch on it and never got one hit on it. The Blue didn't hit the Secret 7 hard, it was like he was just sitting there savoring the flavor before I set the hook on your #2 DEAD RED TITAN Treble hooks.

First time with DEAD RED SPRAY!!

Well I ordered this spray last thursday and received it last Saturday (FAST SHIPPING) and decided to give it a try at a new spot with fellow member "lookin 4 moby", anyways we were on a flathead hunt but I decided to cut up a live chub and hit it with this spray just to see what happens.......5 minutes after the cutbait hit the water I noticed a very lite bite so I picked the rod up ready for a aggressive attack from a channel cat but the line slowly started to tighten and I laid down the law! immediatly I knew this was a rather large channel cat for this area or a flathead?.....

I called on brother Preston to retreive the net which he did in a quick manner even though it was 50 yds from us and when he returned The fish surfaced and it was THE FIRST flathead I have ever caught on dead/cut bait in all my years of catfishing!



None the less I am SOLD on this product and cudos to Jeff for making a great one!

Wasn't a huge flatty at 12lbs but it was my first one cutbait and damn near impossible to do in my area! To give you an example: I fish from April through November 5 days a week and in the last seven years I have witnessed two occasions where cutbait has produced a flathead! I am not one that usually strays from my favorite baits, but recently decided to to try Secret 7. I did so due to its ability to cast it. I normally only use SureShot but it is definitely not the best bait to cast. I caught 10lbs worth of channels in 10 minutes with Secret 7 and continued catching them. Did not use side by side with my favorite straight over the side of boat. Had to stick to what I knew. However, next time I will try both at same time. Here is my son Trip's pending Jr. Angler Record Channel cat from Lewisville in Texas. Here are the details. Official weight was 7.20 lbs and beat out big sister's previous lake record by over 2 lbs. The fish was caught on a Carolina rig baited with a gizzard shad fillet using Dead Red Blood Spray on a 3/0 Double Action circle hook and anchored down by one of Chase's 2 oz. No-Roll sinkers.

I was talking to Ryan Gnagy the other day and he said I should send you my testimonial.

Well I caught a unofficial lake record blue cat out of Milford lake. I beat the previous record by 4 pounds. The fish toped the scale At 60 pounds.



Although I would say he is actually a 50 pound body. He just had one heck of a gut on him from eating.

I would say 90% of the bites on Friday (3/26/2010) was on dead red blood spray fished with fresh shad on a 5/0 double action hook. There is just nothing better then dead red in March and April. The stuff works hands down.

"I just wanted to share with you a couple pictures of CJ Blankenship and I. We won 1st place at the Cabela's KingKat Tournament on Texas Lake Tawakoni.

It had 37 teams entered from 8 different states. Fishing all week was extremly difficult with very few fish been caught. We almost didn't even fish but thought we were there we might as well seems how we made the trip all the way from Kansas.



The day of the tournament started out very sunny and cold but warmed up to around 60 with 5 mph or less wind. We started out fishing where we had caught some nice fish in 25 foot of water during our prefishing with out any bites and decided to move in to some shallower water close by. We started trolling in 12 foot of water moving out to 16 foot. All of our bites coming in about an hour and nothing from 10:30 on. We were using Team Catfish 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton spinning and casting rods set up with Sinker Slides, Sinker Bumperz, and 8/0 Double Action Hooks. For bait we were using fresh shad heads and gut pockets.

The Floating Fish Gripps make controling the 120.6 pounds of Blue Catfish that we caught really easy.

Me and my boy hit the water yesterday for a bit of true wintertime catting.....The temp was in the forty's with a 5-10mph east wind with clouds and rain....We made several anchors through out the day with no success...The bite has been off for whatever reason.....We never gave up and just kept hunting for those big blues... This was a day were persistence was key.....The day was just about gone when we finally heard the sound of drag being pulled off one of the reels....What a great sound!!!!!!!I was first to the rod...I got it out of the rod holder and handed it off to my son....Cody having caught several big catfish in the past worked this one like a pro....I was proud of him as we read the scales and they showed us that the massive blue weighed 69lbs....This blue was caught on skipjack in 30 feet of water using Team Catfish double action hook with the sinker slides and bumpers....We also used the Team Catfish fish grips to help handle the big cat more easily...

Fishing the Guadalupe River this past week we had an exceptional week using the Team Catfish 1/2 & 3/4 ton rods and 5/0 hooks. Clients fish ranged from 22- 35 pounds using shad as our bait.

Central Texas Catfish association's tournament trails season finale; aka "The Classic" was won on Sunday the 18th after 2 tough days of fishing with a total weight of 58.5 lbs on 9 fish. Also won was "big fish" weighing in at 22lbs.

What a month it's been...Chuck fished MCqueeney with me this afternoon. First 7 minutes of the day Team Catfish 1/2 ton doubled over and fight was on. Chuck fought and landed a beautiful 23.7 pd blue, a new water body record and PB for Chuck. Went and got her certified then watched her swim away. "I fished with the Griggs family today. Tom, Lyle and Russel. We started out just looking around a little bit and then we came up on this spot in the main channel and I seen 3 or 4 nice ... really nice fish suspended about 10 to 15 ft from bottom and seen one that was on bottom that was just as good as those others so I positioned my boat about 30 ft up river from the fish that was on bottom and then tossed out a couple of rods with big live shad right about where I thought they'd be right in front of it's nose. It only took maybe 5 to 10 minutes and one of the rods started dipping down slowly. Lyle jumped and put his hands on the rod and I said reel it! he started crankin and the fish commenced to fighting. Lyle would gain on him continually until the fish got up about 20 ft from the boat and then he really started fighting and putting a real bow in that 1/2 ton rod and drag was slippin like crazy ... zzzzt ... zzzt...zzzzzt and then Lyle would gain on him a little and then the fish would take it back ... all this while I'm messin with Lyle saying stuff like ... what's takin so long daggummit ... are you gonna get that fish in or what? hahaha ... Lyle finally got it up so that I seen my float and then the fish ... It was a lot bigger than I thought it was ... I took three stabs at trying to get it in my net from the back side but when the net touched him he'd take off again ... so then I positioned the net so that it was in front of him and scooped it up.... wasn't no way I was lifting it in the boat so Tom and Lyle wrangled him into the boat. Lyle turned it in for the new lake record program and it stayed in the livewell for 9 hours and lost over 10 lbs. I couldn't believe it'd lost that much so we weighed it again with my scales and they said 42 lbs also. We shoulda took it up there just as soon as we caught it I guess. It'll still be the new lake record flathead.

Impressed!!!!

One of my good buddies invited me fishing two weeks ago. Said he was going to show me how to catch some Cat Fish.

We get to his spot and he takes his, Secret, as he called it and put it in another tube for me. He wouldn't tell me what we were fishing with. I've always been a cut bait person so this red tube with a trebble hook on it was quite different too me.

He showed me how to bait the tube and I honestly was still very skeptical.
Until that hook hit the water....We had one very busy afternoon fishing in a small dirt canal. We caught over 40 Cat Fish on what was an awesome fishing trip.

Needless to say I snuck into his box and remembered the name of this great stuff and ordered every thing I needed from the site!

Here is a quick update and short video about the Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest Manufactured bait tournament on Rend Lake in Central IL. 8 22 09

Team Catfish products ended up in 1st, 2nd, 6th, and 9th in the top 10. The SECRET 7 catfish bait, mini FURRY THaNG bait holders, and #6 Sinker Slidez were the big winners.



This makes 3 out of 4 events that Team Catfish Tackle has won at the BPS manufactured bait tournaments in 2008 and 2009! This is the first and only full blown manufactured bait event of 2009. Needless to say, we are as proud as we can be to have this much success in a quick 2 years………

I’m Very impressed how well this bait works. I was indeed skeptical when I first saw this but after viewing the testimonials I thought I would give it a try.

I usually fish 2 or 3 times a week, usually from midnight to about 4 am and I use primarily chicken liver. Usually I get small strikes from fish all night nothing real exciting. When I used Secret 7 they go crazy they attack this bait like I’ve never experienced before.

I just received my Secret 7 in the mail yesterday evening and had to go right then and try it out. I didn't go to a place where I knew there were a lot of catfish, I went to a small farm pond on a relatives property where I hadn't caught anything several times before. Within the first 5 minutes I had caught 2 -2 lb. channel cats. I can't wait to go where I know the BIG cats are!

I was just wandering if you have any suggestions about storing my used dip tubes and furry thangs after I'm done fishing for the day?

Me and a old friend that I went to high school with hit upper wheeler last night...I don't know about everybody else but it is miserably hot down here right now during the day...I love the river at night and it was a good night.There was no jet skis, no cabin cruisers and there was not a cloud in the sky...We had the river all to ourself...

We didn't catch quantity but we had quality with a 20,45,50,and 60lb blue...



All fish caught in 10 to 20 feet on skipjack with a 8/0 double action hooks, sinker slides, and sinker bumpers...

just thought i'd let ya know we had or 2nd tournament of the year with our club at brownville nebraska. we placed 3rd only out of about 11 boats. but i would like to tell ya i was using 8/0 double action and 6/0 jackhammers. we ended up with a total of 5 flathead and about 16 pounds.

i also used some dead red on a dead creek chub that was cut in half and had one hell of a fish on till he spit the hook out.. i'm guessing the fish was evry bit of 50 pounds he had my e cat #4 almost touching the water when i got it out of the holder and started to work him in for some reason he spit it out just to let ya know i was using an 8/0 gammakatsu octopus on that one.

but any how thanks for making some good products i will be ordering some more hooks from you with in the next couple of weeks.

I just wanted to pass along some good catching at Canyon Lake. My dad & I stopped by the New authorized dealer at the canyon lake tackle box to pick up some 5/0 & 8/0 's hook. Thought you might like to hear a story about how Team Catfish is making a difference in the lives of children. One in particular. Dakota Bettis is my great niece. Her daddy, Jason Bettis had recently gotten back from a tour of duty in Iraq. One of the first things
he wanted to do when he got home, was "go fishing".

Just wanted to say thanks for the bait.

I've used all kinds of dip bait before, V-jays, Hog Wild etc. and never caught a single fish with it.

Yesterday I went to Pebble Beach Park on Lavon and caught 9 catfish. No great big ones but they where all decent 2-5 lbs.

The kicker is the parked was packed with people bank fishing and nobody was catching any fish but me, and people seen me and asked "What are you using for bait?"

I said "Secret 7" and they looked at me like "What the Hell is That"

Anyway, I told them to go to your web site and order some so hopefully you'll get a bunch of orders, you certainly deserve it for making such a great product.

Sam estimated the turtle weighed over 90 lbs. He added that the 8/0 DOUBLE ACTION hook had penetrated the jaw of this beast. WOW!

I had this trip scheduled for several months now and these gentlemen flew down from Wisconsin (No Pressure).....I was worried because the current has been so slow and I haven't been able to get out much at all lately....oh and the weather it looked very grim indeed....I had a group of five so we split it up into two groups and fished a morning shift (John and Pete) and afternoon shift (Moose, Mike, and Tim).

Friday morning as we hit the ramp it was coming a monsoon, so we opted to sit it out for awhile.....It let up after about an hour so we got rain geared up and we made our first anchor which quickly yielded a 17 pounder.....the rain set in hard and some distant lightning so we called off first shift early......we took a break and hit the water about 2 P.M. the weather was finally cooperating and Mike struck first with a 40 lb Blue, then it was his Dad's turn Moose he landed the big fish of the day at 57 lbs.....It took awhile but we got Tim one as well at 32 lbs the weather was acting up again (tornado warnings) so we called it quits for the day.



Saturday was a much nicer day with only a few soakings.....John and Pete on first shift regained the lead with 5 cats at 60,45,35,16, and 8 lbs.....The rain had risen the water about a foot and the current was just right about 40k....John got the big 60 lber around 11:15 and we called it quits, so I had high hopes for round two and boy was we in for a treat........I found something on the sidescan marked it and within 5 minutes we had a 59 and 53 double in the boat, we caught two more there at 25 and 29 lbs.....we ran down river and caught a 5 lber but the rain chased us back up river where we got a 13 lber....Were down to the last stop now and the rod goes down big after a nice battle Tim had a big beatiful 84 lb Blue in the boat.



Total weight was 595 lbs for the two days......we would have had a nice sack on Saturday if we were able to fish in the bass pro tourney, probably would have gave jbridges a run for his money.....fish were all caught off anchor in 20-35ft of water on guess what?.....skipjack.......of course we were using Team Catfish 8/0 double action hooks, #6 Sinker Slides, and Sinker Bumpers......wish I could have broke in my new CatfishSafari fishing rods but the Fed-Ex man got lost and they didn't get here till Sat.

Took good friend and fellow guide and Team Catfish staffer Cliff Hill out for a little fun day of fishing with perfect weather on beautiful Canyon Lake in Texas. Fishing has been hot for this lake as of late and low and behold, first fish on for the morning was this lake record bluecat the Team Catfish Double Action 5/0 circle hook did its job, great hooks Jeff.

Earlier in the week landed a suprise personal best largemouth bass (7.5# and I quit fishing for bass years ago) on a catfish rig in the same lake rigged with a 8/0 Team Catfish Double Action circle hook. Last week, caught a yellow cat on a Team Catfish Double Action 8/0 which would have smashed the lake record by at least twenty pounds if...he did not straighten my swivel while I was fooling around trying to get him in the net by myself. No fault to your equipment...only the angler.
Good Day on good lake with good equipment and good friends... fishing cant get better.

Yesterday I bought my first tub of Secret 7 over at the Sports Center in Grove and this evening was my first time trying it. Results ?? A 26 lb 3 oz Blue Cat that measured 38 inches in length caught on Grand Lake !

I am a carp fisherman most of the time ... but when I go Blue Cat fishing I know what bait to use from now on ... Secret 7

Shawn Proctor and I (Ryan Gnagy) won 1st place ($401.00) and had big fish out of 17 teams at a Catfish Nation Tournament April 4th on Clinton Lake in Kansas.

Conditions were very tough with post cold front conditions and rough water from 40+mph wind gusts. Water temp was 46-48 degs and fishing was slow. We caught all our fish on 3/4 Ton Team Catfish Rods, 5/0 Double Action Hooks, Sinker Sliders, Sinker bumpers and Floating Fish Grips.

We were using Fresh cut shad, frozen shad guts and a few worms in shallow windblown weed beds. This was Shawns first catfishing ever and I think he is hooked!

Jerry said they were using the # 6 Sinker Slides, Sinker Bumperz, 8/0 5/0 Double Action hooks, and the Floating Fish Grips. They caught their catfish from a anchored boat. They were using shad and skipjack for bait and fished them in 3 to 10 ft. of water on very large mud flats.

Another one of my kids.....my daughter caught this blue this morning and she weighed on certified scales as 16lbs 8oz and 33 inches long. The old junior lake record is 4.88 lbs, I think she beat it LOL. Fish was caught on cut shad in 15 foot of water on a ledge. We were using the TEAM CATFISH sinker slides, double action 8/0 hook and fish grips. Way to go babe (McKenzi)!!

Chris and I won 1st place at Warsaw MO on March 8th 2009 with 5 Bluecats weighing in at 73.80 lbs. We also had big fish of the tournament weighing in at 27.60lbs. This was a combined tournament event by Kansas City Catfish Association and the US Catfish Association Kansas district. There was a good entry with 22 teams to start off the first tournament for both clubs. We caught our fish on fresh cut shad anchored up in 2-5 feet of water on shallow mud flats using 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton Team Catfish Rods, Sinker Sliders, Sinker Bumpers and Double Action hooks.

During our tournament we had all kinds of weather conditions! We had 60 degrees with sunshine, clouds and extremely heavy rain with 60+ mph winds that changed from East to North to West then back to sunshine.

"I took a couple of my friends out this afternoon to do a little catfishing. One is a DIE HARD Danny King punchbait guy and the other one likes Stick it. We figured we'd have a little tourny between the three of us. All guys used two poles with thier respective baits on each pole. I used Secret 7 and caught 7 fish to 5 lbs to their 1 each. Before it was all said and done both had switched over to the 7 and had boated 3 more each plus I boated two 10 lb blues using shad with the Dead Red Blood Spray. Both Said they were going to Olsens tackle shop tomorrow to stock up on Blood Spray and Bait Holders."

Mickey and Steve were using 8/0 and 5/0 DOUBLE ACTION hooks, sinker bumpers, #6 sinker slides, and fish grips. They caught their bluecats in 3 to 12 ft. of water on cut shad. They were anchored and had to reel down on a few fish but the rest were hooking themselves.

Mickey and Steve won $3700.00 with 189 lbs.



Cody and Bill Mullennix were using the 8/0 black nickel DOUBLE ACTION hooks, sinker bumperz, #6 sinker slides, and floating fish grips. They caught their bluecats in 4 to 14 ft of water anchored. The bait of choice was big cut gizzard shad. They had to reel down to catch most of their catfish.

Cody and Bill won $1600.00 with 148 lbs.

Big Sam and Johnny take 1st place at the Pole Benders catfish club tournament in Sallisaw OK on Kerr Lake.

The duo was using the Team Catfish 8/0 DOUBLE ACTION catfish hooks in black nickel and DEAD RED. They also were using the SINKER BUMPERZ and FLOATING FISH GRIPS. The fellas caught their bluecats anchored in 8 to 10 ft of water using fresh gizzard shad and frozen skipjack herring. Sam said they had to reel down to catch a few bluecats, but for the most part the cats were hammerin down hard enough to hook themselves.

I won the big catfish prize at the Bass Pro Big Cat Quest National Championship in Oct. 2008 . It was also the biggest catfish of the year weighed in at the tournament trail. It was caught on Wilson Lake in Alabama using a Team Catfish 8/0 Double Action circle hook. The huge catfish weighed in at 101.50 lbs and was 53in long. It is my personal best catfish. The blue was released alive and well back into Wilson Lake to fight again another day.

Just thought that I'd send you some information on a pending new lake record channel cat. Fish was caught on whole shad, using Dead Red Blood Spray. Official weight was 4.32#, 22 1/2" long. The Dead Red has been good to me in the last week, producing decent numbers of fish. I did make sure that the TC cap and grips were in the photos. Keep up the great products and super customer service.

I got out with the Treadway's again today, we had a big time day and only missed getting that sought after triple digit by 2 pounds.......The current was really ripping today and some of the places I had been getting bit the fish had moved.....but when we found them today we found them...early on in the morning we doubled up with a 51 and 44 pounder within minutes we had a 23 Lber.....5 more minutes and a 54 pounder in the boat....later on in the day we hit another big time double 62 and 54 pounds....already a great day....Toni "Red" Treadway arrived late in the day and we were hoping to get her a 50+........but little did we know how big her first bite was, this was an epic battle of give and take for 10+ minutes, while she was fighting it another rod went off and that fish was around 30 lbs and it goes straight to tangle up in Red's line.....We got the 30 in front of the net and cut it off and scooped it and quickly unhooked and released it, another 5+ minutes and we have the big beatiful 98 pound blue in the boat....we weighed it several times trying to squeeze a few more pounds, measured it 54 inches x 38.5 inches, took a couple dozen pics on 3 different cameras, and released it back healthy as could be.

We caught the big fish and most of the others on Ronnie's Catfish Safari Rods and of course the trusty Team Catfish Circle Hooks.

How to Earn A Expert Angler Award in Two Days

This was my third catfishing trip on the James River with guide Capt. Mike Ostrander. The James River is an amazing place to fish. During my current two day trip I caught numerous blue cats ranging in weight from 10-29 pounds. I was also able to catch and release ten citation sized blue catfish weighing between 30 and 40 pounds. The 10 citations, gave me a Expert Angler on blue cats from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Thanks for the great time and wicked fishing trip. Thanks also to Team Catfish for their great double action circle hooks!

The morning of the first day, proved challenging as gizzard shad were hard to find. We found bait in 30' of water in the main river channel on the James. We happened to be drifting during an outgoing tide, catching bait, when we were close to a spot I really like to fish. Without starting the engine, to reposition, the anchor was set. We baited our eight rods with fresh gizzard shad and cast onto the channel ledge, along the drop as well as into the channel. Knowing there was plenty of bait around, I was hoping a few fat blue cats were also there. Within ten minutes Eric had his first citation in the boat. It was a chunky 34 pound blue catfish. Over the next 40 minutes we boated five more fish between 15 and 28 pounds. It was a good start.

Eric, who came all the way from Kansas to fish the James was having a great two day fishing trip. By early afternoon of the second day, he had landed nine citation blue catfish of over 30 pounds. We joked that another fish would earn him a Expert Angler award from the state of Virginia for blue catfish. The tide changed and the bite slowed greatly. The last few hours had passed and we had about 10 minutes left to fish when we started thinking it might not happen. I called the 'two minute warning', asked the river for a little fish mojo, and sure enough one of lines started to tighten, the rod began to bend and as the fish started to swim across current, Eric leaned down and began to crank on the reel handle to help set the Team Catfish Double Action circle hook (I really like the way these hooks work when you 'assist' the hook set by reeling on the handle to set the hook). The hook dug into the side of the mouth of his 10th blue catfish citation. A 39 pound fish. What a great end to a fantastic two days of fishing.

I just wanted to let you know that we used the Team Catfish 8/0 Double Action Hooks in our recent 3rd place finish in the BCQ Championship......I attached a pic of the biggest cat we had in the event 64.75 lbs.....I'm very pleased with the #6 sinker slides too, I use them often as well.

I wish you could get them to make a slightly larger size hook for the really big baits, but truth be known it's probably not necessary.....I usually put one hook through the nostrils and another in the center of the back."

I just wanted to pass along our first big girl of the season. Scott Wells landed the 20 pd blue cat on Choke Canyon in South Texas using Team Catfish 5/0 double action hooks, snagless sinkers and sinker bumpers.



The only thing better would have been to land it on one the new Team Catfish rods! Can't wait to try them out. Fish was caught in 40 ft of water on cut shad along with 138 eating sized fish.

"The junior angler lake record channel of 5.7# was caught by Colbey Brook of Lorena, TX on lake Fairfield.
I had the Dead Red spray in my boat all that time but had failed to remember it or use it. I sprayed it on fresh cut shad and within a very few minutes the fish was caught.
This is not a big channel for Fairfield but considered a good one for most lakes down here. Fairfield has lots of 8-10# channels and Colbey will bust the record soon."

Wow! Can a fishing trip turn around!

How was a guy to know that the exact dates of the fishing trip would fall the same day that a hurricane decides to beat up Galveston?



That is exactly what happened to Realtor Ron (the most famous Ido Member that never posted). We flew into Dallas on Thursday to fish the Gulf on Friday. We changed our plans on Wednesday night to go North, to Lake Texoma and get into the striper bite. This is the lake that Splash, the 123 pound Blue Cat came from.

It sounded like Ike was going to mess with our Saturday and Sunday plans too. I found a Texas fishing forum (Texas Fishing Online) and told my story. I was looking for a blue cat guide that could fish Sunday that was out of Ikes path. After a number of dead ends mostly because of the short notice, I got a hold of Tommy from www.TrophyCatFishingAdventures.com . This is kind of ironic since I wanted to use that url for my website a few years ago and visited their site then. Little did I know at the time I would be fishing with them.

Tommy from Trophy Catfishing Adventures in his Falcon BoatThanks to the folks at Texas Fishing Forums, we "Yankees" went from a day of sitting in a motel room watching Ike head inland to getting out on beautiful Lake Texoma for the second time, but this time for the non "scaly fish" as they call them!

My partner in crime Ron Robinson and I hooked up with Tommy from Trophy Catfishing Adventures Sunday morning at 7 am. Kinda windy Tommy said but no rain like we thought. Just clear skies and some left over wind, a start of a beautiful day.

I'm going to jump ahead of the outing for just a moment. After the trip Ron and I were talking about the days events on the 2 hour drive to our next motel. If we hadn't caught a fish, not one, Tommy's guide trip was excellent. He was truly concerned about our comfort in the waves (three footers) and since Ron and I are Channel and Flathead guys, taught us a lot of tricks for Blues, some that we can use on our home waters in Minnesota on our favorite fish. As a guide myself, I feel qualified to say Tommy is a true professional guide. I could tell that he was watching for our every need, from having the boat ready to go, to having a towel ready when I would take off my own fish.



Tommy, Thank you so much for our short notice trip. We had a blast!!

An all Garcia line upBack in the boat, we started the first drift on Texoma. I've heard of Team Catfish products, in fact one of our sponsors of our sponsors (Moore's Bait and Tackle) started handling Team Catfish products in his bait shop this last spring. After using far too many products to remember, I'll be stopping in to pick up some of the hooks and other terminal tackle, including the catfish holders…they are great for keeping your fingers from being gnawed on!

We were using cut shad, I think Tommy and I hit it off right away when we found out we both like using the head. The only difference is I like squeezing the shad head before tossing it out he just tosses out the head whole. You say tomato.

Ron's being worked over hardIn just a few moments of starting the drift we had a few bumps to the rods and then a solid hit. A two pound, darn near white colored blue cat. Nice way to start off the morning. Then another and another.

Both Ron and I know fishing is fishing. All we wanted was a chance to catch a big, Trophy size blue. We knew we could be skunked on a big fish this time of year or anytime for that matter…but we just wanted a chance. With the wind around 25 mph and waves in the 2 to 3 foot range, well we would need some luck and guiding experience.

We move to the other side of the lake and started the drift again using the two drift socks, Tommy kept the drift under 1 mph. We were fishing mostly flats, but hit some ledges as the day progress. In the second drift on a flat…the rod in front of me, just bent over and shook, a sign of a biggun! I had my hand ready to grab the rod in case Ron tripped over my extended foot forcing me to take over bringing in the fish…but no luck. He was over in a flash…or should I say "splash" and the battle was on. Later Ron said she came in fairly easy with just a little of the 50 pound PowerPro running out the drag. But when she was under the boat…he had all he could do to hang on! I had more fun watching Ron work on a big fish than if I would have caught one myself, it's a HOOT!



After about 15 minutes Tommy netted and lifted the big girl (I have no idea if it was a girl or not) in to the boat. It was at that time Ron and I realized what he had just caught.

His first Blue Cat coming in at 72 pounds! WOO HOO!!

At the days end, we had about 10 fish ranging from 2 to 8 pounds and then Ron's personal best,and first.

All in all it was a great time and I would recommend Tommy to anyone looking for a good time on trophy water. Knowing that there is a chance to catch a trophy fish is about all a person can ask for. Having a little luck and a good guide just slants the odds to your side.

More to come on a new hook that is a cross between a circle hook and a J hook in the catfish forums.

I had the pleasure of particpating in the Lake Lewisville "Take a Soldier Fishing" event on Saturday. What an awesome event! About 40 soldiers came up from Fort Hood. We had 20 boaters and guides donate their time and equipment to help out with the fishing. This was a really great experience for me to take these guys out. I was lucky enough to get the only three guys that wanted to go catfishing. My new friends and hereos Jeremy, AJ and Eddie had a blast. They finished the morning putting 43 keeper channel cats in the box in about 4 hours fishing with Secret 7 in shallow water. No big fish, but the steady action of bites and fish coming in the boat kept them pretty busy all morning.



I want to thank all of those that helped put on such a great event and a thank you to Jeff with Team Catfish for the caps, Secret 7 bait and catfish tackle for the guys to take home. They were fired up about being able to try some of the bait in their favorite fishing hole back home. I highly recomend to others to participate one of these events in the future.

Team Catfish Crew....here are some pictures of a buddy and me Sunday. Let me tell you we had the best day ever on the water. We fished from 6am to 3pm on the Mo. River and ended up with about 20-25 blue catfish in the boat with a over all total weight of aprox. 445lbs.



The catfishing was tremendous! Those double action hooks and sinker slides really did the trick on those big blue cats. This will be a day I will never forget. Sorry I don’t have any fish grip yet but I wish I had because my thumb and left hand is tore up.

Went fishing for a few hours yesterday. Was my first time to catfish Choteau Bend on Gibson. I caught plenty of channels up to 8 lbs on the SECRET-7 catfish bait along with the Dead Red tubes. There was a good current moving down the river and all I had to do to catch the channels was anchor right in front of the brush piles then cast right up to them.

The best piles had from 2 to 15 ft of water running through them. You'll need some rod holders or someone else who can help watch the rods. On the best piles I was having a hard time keeping up with 3 rods. Most of the channels were 1.5 to 3 lbs but there were some nice ones mixed in.

For the ones who always fish with shad, here is your report....I caught me a nice mess of shad in a creek that comes in on the west side of the river. I fished 3 rods that had SECRET-7 catfish bait on them, 2 with shad. I never caught a catfish on shad and only had 2 bites that I saw. I was hoping a few blues would take a shad on the drop offs now that the water has cooled to 77 degrees. No Luck yesterday, but the time is near!

Lots of fun for a short trip. Good catfish water. I would like to go back this winter when the blues start moving around a little more. I found some good deep structure that will hold the bigguns!

You're probably thinking this article has something to do with a form of catfishing that does not necessarily require a rod and reel and clothing may be optional. I hate to disappoint any of you, but it really has nothing to do with diving into the water and wrestling some monster flathead catfish out of its lair. I am going to walk you through a few simple techniques and tips for locating and catching catfish in shallow water using dip baits.

Dip baits have been around quite a while and have taken their fair share of catfish. This form of catfish bait is often referred to as a "Cheese" bait primarily for their typically main ingredients being some form of cheese.

Dip baits are typically thinner than dough baits and do not have the fibers to keep them on a hook like a punch bait. They usually have the consistency of peanut butter and require some sort of catfish bait holder such as a dip tube, plastic worm or sponge to keep the bait on the hook. Team Catfish Dead Red Dip Tubes and mini Furry Thang bait holders are excellent examples of catfish bait holders that I use for dip bait fishing.

The dip bait must be extremely sticky and adhere to the bait holder or it will wash off before the fish finds the bait. The function of a dip bait is to immediately saturate the area around the baited hook with lots of scents and attractants. Any wave action or current in shallow water will quickly spread the fish-attracting scents around the area of the baited hook in a more horizontal direction. This allows the catfish to easily pick up on the scent and zero in on the source quickly. Thus making dip baits an excellent choice to use while targeting catfish in "skinny" water.

In order to catch shallow water cats, you first must locate them. I prefer to begin fishing wind-blown banks with brush, grass, stickups or other types of cover. If the fish are there and actively feeding, we will usually get bites and start catching fish by the time I get the third or fourth rod in the water. Keeping fresh baits in the water will also help increase the number bites and the number of fish you catch. If a rod doesn't get bit in five minutes or so I will rebait it and cast it out again.

I focus my shallow water fishing techniques in waters less than 5 feet
deep. Often times we will be fishing in water less than two feet deep and even catching fish in less than one foot of water. When dip bait fishing, I prefer to use a simple Carolina rig consisting of 20 pound test main line, 1 to 2 oz. egg sinker, barrel swivel, an 18 inch leader (17 lb test) and a dip tube with a #4 or #6 treble hook and loaded up with Secret 7 catfish bait by Team Catfish.

The majority of the fish I target on dip baits will be eating size fish up to 10 lbs or so with an occasional trophy sized fish. I prefer the lighter leader line due to the number of snags that occur while fishing in heavy cover. When you hang up and need to break off, the majority of the time you will only lose the leader, hook and dip tube, while saving the weight and swivel. Dip baits can also be fished with great success on slip cork rigs as well, but that' s another story all by itself.

The most important tip for locating and catching catfish is if you are not getting bites or catching fish in 15 minutes or so and you have freshened up your baits you need to move. Keep changing locations until you find a concentration of fish. Once you find that school of actively feeding fish, dip baits can quickly put a bunch of nice eating size catfish in the box for your next fish fry.

This was not just another catfish tournament though.....This was the Bass Pro Shops Big Cat Quest Manufactured Catfish Bait Championship of 2008. "The Big Cat Quest is highest paying catfish tournament trail in the country!" said Ken Freeman owner of the trail. "We have lots of great tournament anglers and manufactures coming together to have a great time here in Dubuque Iowa. We are all about family, friends and good times with a competitive spirit." Ken added. When it was all said and done Team Catfish's SECRET-7 had claimed 1st, 4th, and 8th places in the top 10 at the Big Cat Quest Championship. There was also a local team of Joe Dyer and Don Reul that won 5th place using a small sample of the SECRET-7 catfish bait in conjunction with the local favorite, Cat Tracker dip baits. Dyer and Reul also used some of the DEAD RED Dip Tubes and the mini FURRY THaNG bait holders to help them seal their 5th place victory.

The Big Cat Quest Tournament was held on the mighty Mississippi River in Dubuque Iowa. The date was August 16th. The weather conditions were beautiful, a sunny day with a high of 81 degrees. There was also a cool and foggy morning start of 51 degrees. The winds were light, but there was lots of boat traffic on such a beautiful day.

As for the catfishing, the bite was very tough according to most anglers. The anglers had anticipated a much better activity level, but the catfish did not cooperate very well. Many anglers had hammered the cats while pre-fishing earlier in the week. "They were pulling the rods over hard yesterday" said Jeff Williams founder of Team Catfish Tackle. We knew that there were lots of good catfish anglers participating in the event. We also knew there were many good catfish baits for the anglers to choose from. We had our fingers crossed for sure, but ultimately didn't know what the outcome would be!"

Slipping up on the catfish. By Cliff Hill.


One of the most productive ways to fill a cooler up with catfish is to use slip bobber. It's absolutely a blast to watch that bobber go under and have a catfish try to pull that rod out of your hand. It's one of my favorite ways to fish for several reasons.
Using a slip cork is easy and most everyone can do it, not mention it reminds you how simple and fun fishing is supposed to be. There are several things I do when setting up my slip cork rigs and I'll discuss them in detail. I prefer a medium baitcast or spinning reel such as a Shimano Sahara 4000 or Abu Garcia 5000 loaded with 30-50 pound HI-VIS braid of your choice. The reels are attached to medium action; 7 to 7 half-foot rods. You want a rod with enough backbone to set the hook and you want a dependable reel that will get those whiskered fish in. When considering floats there are a bunch of corks, bobbers, floats out there that work fine. I prefer a 3 inch fluorescent pencil float for several reasons, they are easy to see, the offer least resistance to finicky fish, they cast well and are readable. When I say "readable", I mean studying that bobber when it floats naturally with out a fish messing with it versus when one is "mouthing" or playing with the bait which the cork "alerts" you to by it's sudden unnatural floating. Once you fish them for a bit, you'll see what I am describing. The next item is your stop knot which can be pre bought at most outdoors stores in packs of 40 or so, then you'll need a 6mm or 8mm bead, a swivel and some sharp Team Catfish treble hooks. I like to a attach monofilament leader of 20 pound test between the hook and swivel, so when I get snagged I only lose the hook.
Next is the series in which these items go together. The bobber stop knot goes on the mainline first and is cinched down through the loop created in the middle after removing the plastic tube, next you put on the bead and slide your line through the cork, float, or bobber. I prefer to use a 3/8 or ¼ oz. egg weight below the cork. (Simply slide the line through the weight) then tying this off with a barrel swivel. The amount of weight varies but you want to be sure you have enough to cast a good distance and still be accurate with either type of reel set up. I like to then set my depth by moving the knot to my desired depth that I wanting to fish. It is important to trim the excess line off the pigtails on your knot, not too much but a bit to keep them from getting hung up in the eyes of your rod. Once your satisfied with the depth, then cinch the pigtails down. The knot is slide able to fish any depth and go up on your spool with out causing any problems, which is a benefit of fishing slip bobbers. The mono leader is then attached with a dip bait tube for catfish baits like the Secret 7. Slide your leader line through the tube then tie off with your favorite knot onto a treble hook ranging from a #6 to 1/0.
This is how I fish for catfish with clients 90% of the time. The cork allows for easy identification of bites and being able to lower or raise your bait to the depth the fish are at with the simple sliding of a knot. Catfish are aggressive feeders and using this rig allows you to be able to pinpoint productive areas with quick results. Utilizing a slip bobber is best on lakes and ponds where there isn't a lot of current and is also great on lakes with a lot timber. Pitching to the timber and structure of lakes whether it is riprap, stumps or over hanging limbs and using a slip bobber will allow you to catch more catfish. I recommend using equipment similar to the above along with a proven catfish bait like Team Catfish's Secret 7 dip bait, Dead Red Spray and the dip bait holder tubes along with a cork and you too can "put the slip on the catfish".

Well as Sam calls it we had a slug fest today. We cleaned 48 channels and blues mixed caught somewhere around 60 fish total. The majority of the fish came off secret 7 catfish bait. We fished both baits until the secret 7 was 10 fish up on Danny Kings then just put the lid on the DK's. Caught 1 blue 8 or 9 lbs. and some 4 to 6 lb. channels. I'll post some pics when I get back to work in a couple of weeks. The fish not only hit the secret 7 better but they also hit it harder than they do the Danny Kings. When the fish are not hitting the skip jack's or shad I think we have now found our new go to bait to put fish in the boat. Thanks Jeff for an excellent bait that will catch both blues and channels.

I put my dad on his 25 fish limit in just a few hours fishing Secret 7 and punch bait. I believe 19 out of 25 came on Secret 7 and 6 on punch bait.

Darien and Cooper put a whooping on a few catfish on 6/22/08. Out of the 39 keepers 27 were caught on Secret 7 and the 12 on punch bait. The three blues that were caught were on Secret 7 on the same rod that just happened to be the only one rigged up with a mini furry thang instead of the dead red dip tube.

Rend Lake & Secret 7

Well, I met Jeff of Team Catfish, last week at the Rend Lake Gathering. He was passing out some samples of Secret Seven Catfish Bait. And he asked me to try some. I have tried alot of stink bait, so I was kind of skeptical of using another stink bait. They all seem to smell like crap, but produce very little fish. So to be fair with his bait, I tried it at Rend Lake last week. I might add that we had another stink bait in the boat that we had not used before. So we had a little contest between the two. We had four identical rods, line, and hooks. So I used Secret 7 dip bait, and Roy used the other. Name withheld. We went about a mile and 1/4 out in the lake, and we set up on a hump, that came up from 15 foot to 6 foot. We both started out with 2 poles. Ten minutes had gone by, and I had caught 5 fish on the Secret 7, and Roy had not got a bite on the other. So we moved to another spot, and we set up the same way. This time the bite was so fast on the Secret 7 that I had to go down to one pole, and Roy was sitting there scratching his head. At one time I started timing how long it took for me to get a bite. From the time the bait hit the water till I caught a fish, it took 1 and 1/2 minutes. I did that three times in a row. At about this time Roy was mumbling about switching baits with me. He had fished 30 minutes without a bite. So being the good guy that I am, we switched baits. Now Roy is using Secret 7, and I am using brand X. Now you have to remember that Roy has not had a bite in 30 minutes, and I had caught 15 fish in that time. So we both bait up, and immediately Roy starts catching fish, and this goes on for another 15 minutes or so. Meanwhile I have not had one bite with Brand X. So when we get back to the campground, Brand X goes out to the coons. Long story short, in three days, we caught 98 fish on Secret 7, and one of those days we caught fifty. So I got on the phone and called Jeff, and placed an order for one case of Secret 7 catfish bait, and some of his red dip worms, that we used in the Secret 7. I would just like to thank Jeff for a great product, and for supporting the BOC. BIGCAT GARRY EADS.

I spent a day in the boat with Jeff Williams from Team Catfish. Jeff is one of the most knowledgable fisherman I have ever had the pleasure of fishing with. I am an old river fisherman and that day I went back to school.

Jeff and I caught 30 plus channel cats in an afternoon of fishing. The fish ranged from 2 to 6 pounds. All of the fish were caught on Secret 7 catfish dip bait.

If you have never used this catfish bait, you should give it a try. The fish don't just bite on it. They attack it like it is some kind of prey. It was truly remarkable to see how hard those fish took that bait.

Myself & the "MRS" went to the Arkansas river yesterday. It was cloudy starting out we didn't get there till about noon The water was rising again!! I am fishing in the heat on purpose cause myself & Johnny have to fish in a tournament in July In Texas so i need to be in the heat a little. I took my ususal punch-bait figuring for a nice mess of channels since the blues are nesting. I threw my secret 7 in the boat determined to figure out how I want to present it. Jeff you'll be proud of me I tried the tubes, loopers, sponges, etc.. before i didnt like the results. So i added some fiber to it so i can sling a treble at them I had 3 poles the "MRS" had 2. She used punch-bait...i used 2 secret 7 & 1 punch. The contest was on!!! The "MRS" can fish now folks she jumped to an early lead about 5 to ZERO Don't panic though..the second spot i came to life. We caught 26 fish total in 3hrs.. she had a channel going 6lbs. The secret 7 catfish bait bagged 6 blues the only ones caught!!! My biggest was 7lbs. It was a slug-fest for sure the final tally was 13 to 13, but i am declaring secret 7 the victor cause it caught the only blues. I got it Jeff!!! I am confident now in fishing with it!!! I love this catfish bait. Just be careful in the boat it has the potential to get on everything. I usually set my tub of bait in a card board beer flat to keep it under control. Will be placing my 3rd order also within a week or so. I have also gone to a single hook on my dip tubes because the fish eat this stuff and I don't want to be killing smaller fish.

These are though the biggest catfish of either species that she has caught and landed completely by herself on Lake Lewisville. Here are some pictures of the two fellas I had on two different 4 hour guide trips this week. I have not done much guiding since the inroduction of Team Catfish but I wanted to take these 2 catfishing and introduce them to the SECRET-7 catfish bait. These 2 sure were a lot of fun!

These fellas caught around 50 cats in 2 trips. Lots of 2 to 5 lbrs and two 10lbrs I didn't get pictures of . The cats were all caught in fast current with the SECRET-7 catfish bait and the mini FURRY THaNG bait holders. We were also using the #6 sinker slides, sinker bumpers, and the 2 oz. clip on no slide sinkers.

Was very suprising to see the way Al got around in the boat. He just turned 80 years young and he loves catfishing. Nice work fellas, you handled the rods well.

At the early stages of breaking daylight this 56lb flathead came out for a quick bite on a big blue gill at Burnsville Lake in WV on the 25th of May. Althou fishing had been a little slow the 8/0 double action circle found its mark in the corner of the mouth for another nice trophy....thanks Team Catfish.

I am finally getting around to sending in the report of my 7yr olds channel cat. He caught it over Memorial Day weekend in Spavinaw Creek here in OK. The water was fast and clear running into the lake and he had quite a fight on his little hands. We got him on the mini FURRY THaNG bait holder loaded with the SECRET-7 catfish bait. We were targeting the biggest rocks we could find in deep fast current. They were using the rocks as a current break. There was NO NIBBLES when these channels hit, just a good thing we had rod holders! We are very pleased with the swift water fish ability of the SECRET-7 catfish bait. It really hangs on good!!!!

"A friend and I went out on 5-23-08 and slammed the channel cats. All cats were in 2-3 ft of water along grass lines and timber. Caught them corkin with secret 7 catfish bait. I used the tactics that were taught to me by Brother Terry Terry and was on them from the time we got there till the time we left. Wish I had pictures but I gave all of them to my friend which was having a fish fry for a youth group for Memorial Day.

Howdy folks. It's been awhile. Lot's of stuff going on with me right now that I won't get into just yet but I have been doing an awful lot of fishing. I had a chance to enjoy a day on the water with a family of boys from out west, mostly, and I would like to share that.

Once a year these guys get out and fish together and I was the lucky one this year to take them out. Two of them were not strangers to me as I had fished with them once before. Merton and Miles Veeder. Father and son. Both from Dodge City. On a previous trip they caught back to back eight pound walleyes. Now how many times do you think that happens? On this trip though they were joined by Mert's other son Mace from Lawrence, Kansas and son in-law Sean Powell from Lenexa, Kansas. The target species for this day was channel cat.

Marion Reservoir was about a foot high and releasing 91 CFM. The wind was from the north at 10-15 in the morning increasing as noon approached and dropping as the 4 pm hour came.

We baited up our catfish dip bait worms with Team Catfish Secret 7 catfish dip bait. If ya'll haven't heard of this yet let me tell you just a little bit about it real quick. I've been using it since June of last year and can't say enough good things about it. It's real consistent in texture from one batch to the next. You don't have to worry about thinning this catfish bait down or thickening it up. Just go fish. And boy does it catch fish.

My step son Chris Decker and I fished with it at a tournament at Texoma last month and took 8th place out of 116 boats. We were using the Secret-7 catfish bait. The 1st and 2nd place teams were also using the Secret 7 catfish bait.

A few weeks back I had a group out at Cheney and one of them caught a channel catfish that was at least 20 pounds. So the old saying that says stink bait won't catch big fish is just that an old saying. I can't count the fish over 10 pounds I've caught on dip bait. Well back to the fishing trip.

Our first anchor position was on a little secondary point with a little bit of brush on it. The wind was blowing in on it and Mert was the first to bring a fish to the boat. Fact is smoked those boys about all day long. Miles caught the next one and then Mert caught his second which weighed in at 10 and half pounds. Don't know how it disappeard of my camera. It was a dandy of a fish.

We headed to a rock pile where I have been catching them pretty good lately and man did they keep me busy huffing and puffing. We stopped for lunch about noon and dressed the fish before heading into Hillsboro for a bite to eat. 26 fish and 14 more would make their limit. We decided to fish the upper end on the mud flats and see if we could find some mere big ones. We didn't find one to beat the 10 and a half but caught some really nice channels. All of these catfish were caught using the Team Catfish Secret 7 catfish bait.

It was another great day on the lake. Spent with great company and a lot of ribbing and laughter. It's nice to see families make a special effort to get together for an annual event. I'm glad in this case I was able to share the experience.

Kevin and his dad fished with me on Saturday afternoon 5/3/08 for a few hours. The fish were scattered a bit and we had to keep moving to stay on fish. They caught a nice mess of channel cats including this one on Secret 7 catfish bait and shad.

Bob, Jeff and Alex went out with me on Sunday morning 5/4/08. They had a good time on a half-day trip catching a mixed bag. They finished the morning boating about 25 channel cats, over 20 sandbass, 4 short hybrids, a 3 lb large mouth and a 4-foot long gar. They released quite a few fish that weren't deeply hooked and kept enough for a fish fry. Shad (fresh cut and live) was the preferred bait of the day.

No fishing over Mother's Day weekend.

Had the pleasure of fishing with Erick, Kenneth, John and James on Friday afternoon 5/16/08. Four hours of joking, laughing, and phone calls back to the office to report on the fishing and an upset wife dealing with a bad contractor back at the house produced about 60 channel cats and 25 lbs of fresh fillets. All fish were caught corking shallow water on Secret 7 catfish bait and punch bait.

The Stewart brothers joined me for an instructional trip on Sunday 5/17/08. It's amazing how fishing conditions can change in such a short period of time. We fished a variety of patterns and techniques and caught fish at just about every stop. It was obvious the the fish preferred Secret 7 catfish bait over punch bait and shad. We never did find the concentrations of fish like we did the afternoon before. Unfortunately, we had a really nice blue wrap up in the brush and break off before making it to the boat. They finished the day with about 20 catfish and took home quite a bit of knowledge and information to get started catching catfish on their own.

Red Grogran finished in first place. He also claimed the big catfish prize with a 10 pound plus blue catfish. His bait of choice was the SECRET-7 catfish bait. Red also used the Team Catfish SNEEK ATTACK sinker slides, DEAD RED dip tubes, and Catfish Grips.

I had my 2 boys out yesterday. We were catfishing a falling but flodded Elk river here on OK. The CFS was around 6000 and the channel cats were smacking the SECRET 7 catfish Dip Bait. I was also testing new bait holders to see how the cats react to them and how well the hang on the the dip bait. Any way we caught 13 channels in 2 hours. Our faimly had fun as the wife was along too. She even got to reel in a few channel cats!

Springtime is the catfisherman's meow

While spring weather has many anglers across the country scratching their heads about where to go and what to do as lakes and rivers are high and muddy in some regions and low and clear in others, there is one group that doesn't care about the conditions - catfish anglers.

"Channel catfish are the most widely stocked species in the country," said longtime guide and the founder of Team Catfish Tackle, Jeff Williams. "They can be found virtually in every kind of water we have, from neighborhood ponds to the largest rivers and reservoirs. Spring is a great time to catch catfish because they are often shallow and close to the banks."

Williams especially likes when the water is high as it is right now in and around his home state of Oklahoma, saying it makes the catfish very active. He says what he is doing now to catch channel and blue catfish on nearby Grand Lake will work almost anywhere.

Williams targets water depths of 2-5 feet, while also keying on areas that have grass or flooded brush or timber. He likes to find this combination in three different situations: 1) the very back of creeks with even the smallest inflow; 2) long and slow-tapering main lake points; and 3) islands with flooded timber or brush on top.

He also said that while most anglers curse the wind, the "wind is your friend" for exceptional catfishing success. "You want the wind blowing into the area you are fishing," he explained. "It is stirring up plankton that attracts baitfish, plus it carries the scent from your bait and that will lead fish to your hook."

The catfish expert said when fishing from a boat, always anchor the bow to the wind and hold the position by putting anchors out in front and back. Then do your fishing from the back of the boat, casting downwind.

Williams prefers to use a commercially prepared catfish "dip" bait that he helped formulate called Secret 7. He uses a Dead Red Dip Tube to hold the bait, rigged on a 2/0 Jackhammer hook. The hook is tied to about a 30-inch leader. He threads a 1- or 2-ounce Smooth Operator catfish slip sinker onto the end of his fishing line and then ties a barrel swivel below it to the end of the line. Next step is to attach the leader with the hook to the bottom end of the swivel.

When fishing in states where multiple rods are allowed per angler, such as Oklahoma, Williams and his anglers will fan out four to six rods and reels from the back of the boat. He says the new Zebco Hawg Seeker rod and reel combo is ideal for this application because a built-in "bite alert" feature responds to a bite with a sound and flashing light on the reel, making it easy to manage more than one rod at a time.

Zebco brand manager Scott Smith said the Hawg Seeker's bite-signaling feature, powered by two long-lasting Lithium batteries like used in watches, is truly innovative. "Catfishermen have been rigging bells and other devices on their rods for years to detect strikes, but BiteAlert is a much more sophisticated, more technical feature that is made right into the reel and assists anglers during day or night. When a fish tugs on the line, the beeping starts and lights begin flashing. And BiteAlert's sensitivity can be dialed up or down on the reel to compensate for wind or current."

Hawg Seeker BiteAlert combos are available in spinning or spincast versions, coming pre-loaded with 20-pound test line and on 7-foot rods in medium-heavy actions.

In support of Williams' claims that spring is a great time for catfish anglers, Smith said that Hawg Seeker sales have been "brisk" during March and April.

Williams also added another tip for those looking for the whiskered species. "If you haven't had a bite in 20 minutes, change locations," he said. "You might make four or five moves before you catch a fish. Catch one and you'll typically catch several in the same area." The suggestion applies whether fishing from a boat or the bank.

Catfish are considered excellent table fare as is proven by the extensive number of menus and fresh fish counters across the nation that offer the selection, but Williams has advice for fully enjoying that part of the catfishing experience, too.

"Take care of your catch immediately, either putting fish on ice or keeping them alive until cleaning," he said. "Then after cleaning, either freeze fillets in a container of water or keep them in a bowl of water until time to prepare and cook."

Williams is also a proponent of releasing catfish weighing over 8 pounds. He says these adult fish are important to sustaining catfish populations, and fish under that size are the best tasting ones anyway. He concluded by saying, "you can't catch any size if you don't go, so take advantage of the spring catfish activity and get on the water today."

JEFF WILLIAMS' NOTES ON PREPARING CATFISH FOR COOKING

BEST EATING SIZE
- If intending to fry or bake whole, with the skin on, fish in the .75 - 1.5 pound range
- If intending to fillet, and cook in a variety of ways, fish in the 2-6 pound range
- Take pictures of catfish weighing over 8 pounds, then release the fish

CARING FOR CATCH
- Put fish on ice immediately after catching or keep alive until cleaning
- Freeze fillets in containers filled with water

BATTER OPTIONS
- Lots of commercial batters on the market, with various seasoning choices
- For do-it-yourselfers, go with Corn Flour instead of Corn Meal. Salt and Pepper to taste

BEFORE YOU BATTER FILLETS
- Pat fillets with a towel or paper towel to remove excess moisture
- Doing so allows the batter to stick to the fillet instead of the water on the fillet
- Then roll fillet in batter

DEEP-FRYING
- Grease must be hot, maintaining a temperature of around 350 degrees
- Don't overload the cooker with fillets. Cooking too many at a time will cool the grease, slow the
cooking process and cause the fillets to absorb more grease
- Cook hot and fast for the best results of holding batter and maximizing flavor

I got the chance to do a little fishing with my daughter this morning on Lewisville. We caught 45 channel cats with a few blues mixed in in about 3 hours. No big fish today, but the action was good. We even had several doubles to boot. Abby learned how to watch a cork, take up the slack and set the hook on a slip cork rig. Not too shabby for a 4-year old. After about 30 fish she was flat worn out. She decided to let Daddy take over with the catching and she would be in charge of the fish clicker. All fish were caught in less than 3 feet of water on Secret 7 catfish dip bait by Team Catfish and a few came on punch bait.

I took a father and his two sons out Saturday afternoon on Lake Lewisville. Dad hadn't been fishing in 40 years and this was the first fishing trip ever for his two sons, 12 and 16. We fished some shallow grass flats and flooded green willows for channel cats using cut shad, punch bait and Secret 7 catfish dip bait. After the first hour or so into the trip, the fish definitely had a preference for the Secret 7 catfish dip bait. After we changed the rods over to the dip bait, the guys enjoyed a fairly steady bite of channel cats from 2 to 5 lbs. They all had a great time on the water and couldn't believe how hard a nice size channel cat can pull. It's days like these that make being a fishing guide so enjoyable. I was able to share the experience of a father watching his two sons not only catch the biggest fish of their lives, but catching their first fish as well. They are ready to go back again this summer. I think a combination of slip cork rigs, rip rap and spawning channel channel cats will be in order on their next trip.

Congratulations to Jerry Kropff of Afton, OK on his brand new Grand Lake OK lake record blue catfish. It broke the old record set by Denny Halgren in January. The new record bluecat weighed 44lbs.

The big blue was caught on shad using a Team Catfish 5/0 DOUBLE ACTION catfish hook. Jerry was fishing in 6ft of water when he said the big blue bent over his rod over double, hooking itself.

Marty Reported that they were using the Team Catfish 5/0 DOUBLE ACTION catfish hooks and the #6 SNEEK ATTACK Sinker Slides.

They were anchor fishing in 35 ft. of water. The bait of choice was Skipjack. The sinkers were 8,10,and 12 oz clipped onto the #6 Slides.

They said that they caught about 12 cats on the 5/0 hooks. They were sweeping the rods over their heads for hook-sets and/or letting the cats load up the rods hooking themselves. They weighed in around 68lbs, claiming 2nd place.

Fishing on the James River during March was awesome. AT times, it was challenging, but that's why they call it fishing and not catching. Lots of citation sized blue catfish were caught including almost fifty in one week.
The biggest fish this year, so far, caught off my boat is a 62 pounder. We also boated the biggest flathead I've ever seen at 40 pounds even .. And we've literally caught 1000's of flathead over the last few of years.

During the last week, herring have shown up, as well as the big ocean run stripers that weigh between 20 and 30 pounds. Hickory shad are in Richmond and there are almost as many boats fishing for them as there are shad in the River. A few American shad are being caught. White perch are all over the river and bottom bouncing lures, or fishing small cut bait is yielding lots of fish.

Back to the bluecat scene ... Fish from 3 pounds to 60+ pounds are scattered throughout the river, and now is the best time of the year to fish for them, as they gorge themselves on all the above mentioned (except for the big
stripers) in preparation for their spawn. The top baits are gizzard shad, as usual, but using white perch or herring is a great bait. Herring is good for numbers of fish, as the little cats are eating it up about as fast as you can put your lines in the water.

The forecast for April looks great. The Team Catfish DOUBLE ACTION catfish hooks are hookin up awesome. Hopefully the winds will stay down and the fish will be biting. Take care and Happy Fishing!

Conditions on Lake Lewisville have been tough for the past week. The lake is several feet high due to some recent rains and the Corps has been releasing quite a bit of water in order to drop the lake level back down to conservation pool elevation. We had a cold front come through on Friday that had the winds kicking out of the north at 20+ mph and water temps were hovering right around the 60 degree mark. My brother and I pre-fished on Friday afternoon and found the blue cats scattered along wind-blown banks and points. We caught several nice blues fishing cut shad with the 5/0 Team Catfish Double Action catfish hooks. We also located some good concentrations of channel cats in flooded brush and shallow grass. We caught the channel cats on the Team Catfish Dead Red dip tubes loaded up with Secret 7.



Saturday morning on Tournament day started out slow. The winds died down considerably from the day before and the water temps in the main lake areas we fished 14 hours before, fell to 57 degrees. The blues we had biting on Friday were no where to be found. We changed tactics mid morning and just wanted to put 5 keepers in the boat at that point. We moved to a shallow grass flat and put out several rods baited with Secret 7. In about 15 minutes we caught 10 channel cats and had 5 keepers in the 2 to 3 pound range. We knew this was not enough to place well in on this lake, but we at least got a boost of confidence with some fish in the live well. We left the shallow grass and made a long run to the mouth of a small feeder creek. This spot was about 2 to 4 feet deep with some shallow timber and a few cormorant roosts. We immediately started catching some fish on cut shad including our biggest fish of the day being a 12 lb blue. Unfortunately, a couple of nice fish were lost in the timber and one at boat side a mere 6 inches from the net.



Despite the slow bite and tough conditions across the lake, we managed to put together a 30 pound stringer of 5 fish, including 3 blue cats and 2 channel cats. Thanks Team Catfish for the great products, we were able to pull off a 5th place finish!

Fished Isabella CA, today with Jeff & Kathy from Bakersfield.
We fished from 7:00-11:00 the morning was cold and windy
water temp was 53. first hour we did some drift fishing we had a few hits but no takers, after that we anchored at our first spot and caught 3 small ones after about two hours we hit our next spot where Jeff & Kathy caught this big 12lb-13lb channel cat.

Andrew Carnes and Randy Morgan were one of three teams that made the 19 mile run up the Kansas River to the lowhead dam at I-435. Using cut shad to work the current seams and eddys they boated a 5 fish limit for 27.6 lbs. This was good enough for third place and $144.

Dennis Boehm headed out solo on to the Missouri River. He found his fish on shallow rocky banks getting bit when the sun poked through the overcast. Using half sour shad and Skipjack He boated the big fish of the day a 27.8 lb blue cat along with a 5 lb channel for a total of 32.8 lbs. Boehm won the big fish pot $80 and second place $ 216.

The team of Josh Dixon and Brad Kilpatrick also opted to head to the Dam at I-435. Not having much luck in the rushing water right up on the dam they moved downstream to an exposed sandbar and were soon culling fish. They were using small chunks of cut shad and Fish-On Green Label Herring coated with Team Catfish's Dead Red Blood Spray. Josh Dixon said "the Dead Red Blood Spray definatly made a difference as We were catching larger channel cats then the other teams We could see in the area." When it was all said and done Dixon and Kilpatrick took 1st place and $360 with a 5 fish limit for 35 Lbs.

March 8, 2008 marked the beginning of the Bass Pro Shop (BPS) Big Cat Quest (BCQ) tournament trail for the season. The season began on Lake Eufaula in Eufaula, AL at 6am. Weather would prove to add an element of surprise throughout the day with conditions varying from rain, snow and 30-40MPH winds. Fish were weighed each and every hour by fisherman who were able to overcome the adverse conditions. Weigh ins also proved to be a surprise as Lake Eufaula is typically known for its channel cats and the large fish at the scales were all blue cats.

We started our journey to Alabama on Wednesday evening with expectations of winning this tourney. We had spent countless hours researching this lake and river system to find the area that a winning fish could come from.

Our journey started in Chester, Virginia after we stopped at the home of Randy Harris owner of Black and Blue Custom Rods, one of our sponsors, to pick up some equipment. Randy was even so kind as to go out to catch us fresh bait to take on our trip. We were on the road by 11PM and after driving all night to get there we made it to the lake Thursday afternoon and started scanning the lake in preparation of pre-fishing Friday.

We met with another BPS fishing team member Team Trackers Jeff Dodd (also TEAM CATFISH) on the lake. Jeff had been fishing most of the day and had located some fish which would instantly raise the bar for us. He was willing to bring us some bait from a local lake which he had caught on his way down from his home in Tennessee. We ended the day back at the dock never wetting a line out-running the oncoming storm and ready for Friday the one day we would have to pre-fish the lake.

Friday morning greeted us with down-pours. We toughed it out and were on the lake at 7am to endure hours of pouring rain. Our sponsor BPS had provided us with 100mph rain gear and they kept use dry and warm all day. By midday the rain subsided and the sun came out to warm the temp to 70 degrees. We enjoyed the warm weather and decided to finally wet a line.

We covered some 25 miles of the lake and the Chattahoochee River by 4PM and decided it was time to head in. We ran back to the lake to check out the area we had found the day before and were welcomed back with black skies and 3’ waves. We made our run to the marina in some of the hardest rain I have seen all year. All in all it was a banner day for us after catching several fish that we felt could win the tourney. The blue cats weighed 21, 18 and 13lbs. We felt if we could find these fish on Saturday we would be in contention of winning this tourney. The largest fish ever caught in a BCQ tournament on Lake Eufaula was 22.4lbs so we were close to that record in pre-fishing which boosted our morale.

We went to the sign in and met with many other great anglers during the pouring rain and 30mph winds. During this we were informed by Ken Freeman that there was a boater still out. The fisherman had boat trouble and was some 25-30 miles up the river broken down and his cell just went dead. Jeff Dodd and Eddie Willey were the first to jump to action and Jeff offering his service and his 21’ Tracker Tundra to head up river to find the stranded fisherman. I stayed back at the ramp as backup just encase something went wrong and they needed help. Off they went in the night into the storm and the 3-4’ waves and drenching rain. Within 30 min they had covered the distance and were assisting the stranded boater back to the nearest ramp. I met them there and we made it back to the marina around 12am. Jeff was kind enough to offer us to stay at his motel and save us the 45min drive back to where were staying.

Tournament day the alarm sounded just two and half hours after we had went to sleep. It was to be a day of endurance and prevalence for us. We started our day throwing the cast nets around the dock of the marina and having success finding enough live bait for the day. Then we headed up the river at 5am to get to our spot. We made it out of the marina easily enough and then were back into 3’ waves, gusting winds and scattered rain. After a long run up the river we stopped on a location where we thought we would be successful in catching a monster cat.

The wind didn’t turn to NW as the weather-man said it would and was blowing out of the SE at 30mph+ straight up the river. The temps had plummeted into the 30’s and we were cold! We spent the next 20 minutes trying to anchor on these hogs we marked. As were trying to set up the winds got worse and the river was covered with white caps as the 2-3’ waves had gotten extremely choppy. We couldn’t anchor with the current so we anchored with the boat pointing down river with the wind blowing it upriver and at 6:30 finally got to wet a line. Because we were anchored backwards in to the current we decided to cast and bump the baits through the hole around the structure.

By 8am we had the first fish in the boat, a 21.8lb blue cat. Shortly after the first catch, it started snowing. The snow was blowing by so fast it would hurt if it hit our numb faces and hands. We fished this spot a little longer then ran further up the river to a spot we knew was holding big fish.

We couldn’t anchor in this area so we found a creek mouth to anchor in and fish some structure there. We set on that spot for 45min without a bite. We started changing baits and eventually found what they liked (Skip Jack). One of the middle rods started screaming so Eddie grabbed it and the fight was on. He had to work the fish over the structure and up the ledge without breaking the line and luckily it surfaced over deeper water. He was doing his best to get this donkey to the boat and not let it go back down into the structure. Once we saw the tail of the fish hit the top of the water we were excited as we knew this wasn’t a 20lb fish. When the fish hit the net the feeling of accomplishment was unexplainable. The fish hit the Salter scale at 30.7 and we had done what we came to do. We proved there were large blue cats in this lake system.

The tackle setup that was provided by Team Catfish Gear had performed awesome as always. The custom rod made by Black & Blue Custom Rods allowed Eddie to horse the fish to the boat. The Team Catfish double action hook was deep in the corner of this fish’s mouth. It was nice to see the hook buried so deep to add confidence in the hook set. Once in the live well I just couldn’t believe how the Akwa-Lung system had taken all the mud from the river water in the live well that we had pumped in earlier. That was one happy fish!!
I was up next and had on a donkey that seemed larger that the 30, but it was not to be. The structure had claimed my prize before we could get it to the boat. This luck continued for two more large fish. Broke off in the large trees we were fishing beside. I can’t explain the depth of frustration you have knowing you had just broke off three large cats that may have filled all the top places of the tourney.

We decided it was time to head back and make the wet run in the rough water back to weigh in. As we ran down the river hugging the bank, the river was covered with cat fisherman enduring these conditions that would have kept most folks at home. You have to admire the dedication of these fishermen.

We arrived to the scale to be greeted by Ken and to see that one of fellow BPS pro team member Julie Kunzeman was holding first place with the big fish of the tourney 24lbs and had won the 12-1PM weigh in an hour earlier. We weighed in the 21lb in the last couple minutes of the 1PM hour and claimed first place for that hour. We decide to go ahead and weigh the 30lb Eddie had caught and the massive 2.2lb I had caught. The fish topped the scales at 30.5lbs. We weighed in the 2PM hour and finished the hour with a first place and fourth place finish.

We still had 45 minutes to fish until the end of the tourney so we decide to make a short run to the spot we had found on Thursday. At 3:42 three minutes before we would have to head back to the 4PM weigh in a rod on my side slammed down. After realizing this was a large fish the fish started his run for cover and after pulling quite a few yards of line it was wrapped up in some standing timber and broke off. After a few tears we headed back to the weigh in only to smack a submerged log in the channel and strip out the inside of the prop. We idled the rest of the way and made it back to ramp as the tourney ended.

We ended the day with a first place (30.5 lb) and third place (21 lb) finish overall. The big surprise to us was the 30.5 that Eddie caught was the largest blue cat ever recorded caught on Lake Eufaula. Eddie Willey now holds the Lake Eufaula blue cat record on rod and reel at 30.5 lbs. This was a great tournament and a big thanks to Ken Freeman Outdoors for putting on a great tournament and series. We look forward to seeing all of you at the tourneys in the future.

I had a few minutes this evening to take my daughter fishing. We did a little bank fishing along a drainage ditch in our subdivision right where it drains into the lake. We got to try out the Secret 7 dip bait by Team Catfish. The bait did pretty well in the short time we had to fish. Abby caught 4 channel cats from 1 to 2 lbs. in about 30 minutes before Momma called and said dinner was ready. For some reason home made lazagna was a little more important to her than a few more catfish.

Client, John Levi of San Antonio was able to land his biggest catfish yet, a nice 7.5 lb blue at Lake Calaveras. Using fresh shad and applying the dead red blood spray attached to a 5/0 Team Catfish Circle hook. We were fishing a 14 ft drop off near mid lake when the rod doubled over with John's fish. John landed several other fish througout the day with the Team Catfish set up we were using but this was his personal best catfish.

The tournament was held on the James River VA out of the Hopewell ramp. The tournament started at 7am we arrived at 6:30am to get bait and only caught 5 gizzard shad nowhere enough for a day of tournament fishing that’s for sure. With the captains meeting concluded at 6:55am, all the teams launched and took off in registered order. The first place we set up was on the winning hole. We had decided to stop here after little research and discussion among ourselves. The week prior Johnny (in Camo) and myself fished the flats 3-8 feet deep and pulled a 59lber Johnny's new personal best and two 54's and a twin pair of 20lbers not bad for a couple hours of fishing. With a low pressure system moving through that week and cold weather dropping the water temp about 5 degrees (52-47) we discussed what the fish would do. The tournament day was a whopping 42 degrees for the high and windy so we decided the fish would move off the flats along with the bait to deeper more stable water temps. The first hole was well located for repositioning of blue catfish from the flats and the water temp was right as well. After setting up on the first hole which was a ledge of 24ft that transitioned to 47ft we set out our rods with only 5 gizzard shad. We immediately started getting bites when the main channel rod clicker started hummin. I engaged the spool by turning the handle and WHAM set the 8/0 DOUBLE ACTION catfish hook deep in the corner of the bluecats mouth. The fish took drag for the first couple of seconds. This is a Big fish I told My partners Johnny and Steve (tan coveralls) after 15 minutes and 3 good runs and never seeing the fish I think the guys started believing me. Finally after about 40 minutes the fish surfaced behind my Tracker boat. Steve immediately said the fish was a 70lber and I had to agree after that long of a fight and never seeing the fish. I had fought the fish to the side of the boat and Johnny netted the monster, Steve grabbed the net and scale as I removed the DOUBLE ACTION catfish hook and put the fish in the net to weight. Wow it weighed 75lbs in the net (4.10lbs of net weight). Next The Flat side rod goes screaming I tried to grab it but Johnny beat me to it. Johnny fought the fish for about 15 minutes then we boated him as well. In the course of about 1hr we had our winning tournament weight in the boat. We were finished fishing for the tournament that day by 8:30 am and just rode the river looking at other spots. We have never finished well at this event. We hadn’t brought anything to the scales larger than 36lbs. The weigh in was great all the boats had to have their chips on the board by 4:00pm we had 2 minutes left talk about cutting it close time just slipped away from us scanning the river for new spots. The biggest fish that had been weighed in prior to ours was 60.8lbs, a very competitive fish for this tournament that’s for sure. Johnny and Steve weighed in our blue catfish. Our small guy weighed 41.6 and our big blue weighed 62.8. The total weight of the two mega blues quickly launched us in to first place and was enough weight for us to win the tournament. What a day on the James River in VA, it was a great catfish tournament. All of the Team Catfish tackle worked great, and it just goes to show you that doing your homework and catfishing with quality tackle is a big part of the game when it comes to trophy blue catfishing. Denny Halgren just got a new Grand Lake Record for Oklahoma’s new program. "My good friend Denny Halgren and I were fishing Grand today when he caught this nice blue. It was his first bite ever in Grand Lake!" said Jeff Williams founder of Team Catfish.

"This is not a huge blue in some locations but it is a large one for Grand Lake. The record had to be at least 40 lbs and this one weighed 42. It was 43 inches long and had a 28 inch girth." Jeff added.

Denny was eager to talk about the catfish tackle he used to land the big blue. "We caught it in 50 ft of water on shad using a Team Catfish 5/0 DOUBLE ACTION catfish hook and a Team Catfish 2 oz. SMOOTH OPERATOR snagless sinker."

Steve Nelson and Mickey Petree

We spoke with Steve Nelson after the tournament about the pairs winning methods during the catfish tournament. We were also wondering what Team Catfish tackle they were using to get an advantage over the other anglers. All of the questions were asked directly to Steve Nelson in a question and answer format. This is what he had to say about the duo's win.

1.Can you explain to us how you caught your catfish at the tournament?
We started out in 37 ft of water anchor fishing on top of a hump or underwater island. We struck out there. We went and fished a few other locations just like the first piece of structure. We decided after fishing for 5 hours with a grand total of 4 catfish weighing aprox 6 lbs we should quickly move on. The next method of fishing was to try some shallower water in the range of around 9 to 15ft. We anchored on a little ledge. The blue catfish were targeted on the transition from shallow to deep. This small bottom transition was only around 4 ft. The top of the drop was 10 ft and the bottom was 14 ft. The bait of choice was fresh gizzard shad cut up into chunks.

2. How many catfish did you weigh in, what were the species and what was the total weight? 5 blue catfish were taken to the scale, the total weight was 72.9lbs and our largest blue catfish weighed in at a nice 25 lbs.

3. What was the water temp.? The water was about 52 degrees.

4. What were the weather conditions? Weather was partly cloudy about 55 degrees and a North West wind around 10 to 15 mph.


5. What Team Catfish tackle did you use to catch your catfish? We using the 8/0 Double Action catfish hooks, the Catfish Grip, and the Team Catfish Sinker Slides.

6. How would you rate the catfishing at lake Grapevine TX? For the size of the lake which is only 6000 acres it has some good catfishing. During the tournament there were 3 blue catfish lake records caught and weighed in by the catfish anglers. The final blue of the day, and new lake record ended up weighing 43lb.

7. Was there good boat access? Yes.

8. What boat ramp was used at the tournament? The tournament ramp we used in a private marina by the dam. It cost $10 to launch and load.

9. How many contestants were there fishing the tournament? 32 teams or 64 catfish anglers.

Bill and Cody Mullennix Win Big at North Texas Trophy Cats Tournament.

Dec 8th 2007 A huge 5 fish limit of Blue Catfish were weighed in by Cody and Bill Mullennix. The Father/Son team accomplished this at Lake Lavon Texas during the North Texas Trophy Cats Tournament.

The Father/Son catfishing team of Cody and Bill Mullennix hailing from Howe Texas separated from the competion on Saturday December 8th with a massive weigh-in of 167lb of Blue Catfish. The next best weight was in the 80 lb. range. Cody and Father Bill live in the Lake Texoma/Lavon area and were excited to get the chance to fish the winter tourney at Lake Lavon TX. They are experienced when fishing catfish tournaments and that experience showed up in a large way at this December event.

We caught up with Cody after the tournament and had him explain how he caught his Blue Catfish at Lake Lavon. Cody replied," They started out fishing the tops of humps in the shallow water 14-18 feet of water. Then he moved into deeper water humps 30-36 feet of water." They approached these humps by anchor fishing. The bait of choice that Cody used was cut buffalo/carp and gizzard shad.Cody, Can you tell us about the different kinds of equipment that you used to catch your Blue Catfish? Cody used Team Catfish Fish Grips, Team Catfish Double Action Circle Hooks, Shakespeare Ugly Stick, Pflueger Sinning reels and Contendor casting reels, 65 lb Power Pro braid and 50 lb mono leader line.

What were the weather conditions and water temperature like? Cody replied, "The weather was cloudy, a bit overcast, starting out in the morning and as the day went on it warmed up. The wind switched to the south at 15-20 mph. Water temperature was varying from 64-60 degrees.

Cody, How would you rate the catfishing at Lake Levon? Cody replied, "It was excellent for trophy Blue Catfish."
